Smart fitness begins at Brookdale’s Fitness Center. Our campus setting and our teaching expertise set us apart from typical gyms. Our classes focus on learning – in its many and varied forms. We welcome a community of all ages and fitness stages. Whether fitness is a brand new personal pursuit or a long time dedication, join us to enjoy a unique fitness experience in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Pilates

Pilates is a series of non-impact exercises designed to strengthen and lengthen the muscles without creating bulk.  Pilates works to develop core strength as well as improve posture and body alignment.

Rise And Shine Yoga

A great way to begin your day, this gentle class focuses on connecting yoga postures with the flow of the breath in order to increase awareness, coordination, physical alignment, flexibility, and strength; leading all of us to an overall sense of well being. You can choose your days! 10 Sessions $99 or all 24 for $199

Lunchtime Express

From walking to weights, join your friends and co-workers for 30 minutes of varied exercises designed to make the most of your time and still allow time to eat lunch! No shower needed, but you are guaranteed to return to the office feeling energized.

Functional Fitness For Older Adults

Older populations have never been more motivated to stay active and healthy than right now. Many older adults have serious concerns regarding balance and falling injuries. This 8 week exercise program is designed to provide greater stability, strength, and balance for the older adult that is safe, effective, and fun.

Ballroom For Mind & Body

Ballroom dancing is more than learning step patterns. It’s a life skill. Learn how to dance with a partner, and learn more about yourself in the process. Social dancing is fun and great exercise. Learn to Swing, Tango, Rumba, Foxtrot, Salsa plus more. Come with or without a partner.

A Barre Workout

The Barre Workout is a total body, non-impact workout that combines ballet moves with core conditioning, Pilates, and yoga. Following a warm up, you will be guided through an intense leg workout at a ballet bar and a mat workout to incorporate upper body exercises and abs.

Strength Training

Combination of traditional body sculpting methods using free weights, resistance bands, balls, and your own body weight.  Shapes and tones your muscles and provides a total body workout.

Tabata

Burn maximum calories and fat with Tabata, an interval workout method.  Twenty seconds of intense activity are followed by ten seconds of rest. Challenge yourself with this new and exciting fitness technique.

Designed with the beginner or older individual in mind, this class focuses on low back and abdominal strengthening as well as injury prevention and relief.

Strength & Balance For Older Adults

Combines muscle strengthening exercises with balance training. Each week participants will gradually progress to improve strength and balance to help prevent falls

Strengthen & Stretch

A combination of gentle stretching and strengthening designed for the beginner or older adult.

Boot Camp

It’s nonstop action as you battle the clock and improve mobility, stability, balance, strength, power, cardio, and core development. This time-efficient workout combines a variety of exercises to get your heart pumping and muscles strengthened.

Self-Defense Intermediate

If you already know the basics, this class will build on your self-defense techniques and help you to become more confident in your ability to avoid harm. You don’t have to be in shape or be an athlete to protect yourself. This Shaolin Kempo Karate based method is designed to adapt to all abilities. No flashy acrobatics, just simple moves are all you need to protect yourself. Learn how to feel more confident.  3 SESSIONS

Somatic Movement Fitness

Move Your Body – Awaken Your Mind. Using a variety of movement-based practices combined with dynamic imagery, qi gong, and dance, tap into your body’s innate intelligence. Create new neural pathways and movement patterns to help improve activities of daily living. Improve your posture and balance while increasing strength and flexibility. Learn to move with more comfort and confidence.

Ballet For Body And Mind

We use the ballet syllabus to learn to move more mindfully, with ease and self-expression while improving muscle tone, balance, posture, strength and flexibility. Class offers something for everyone from the novice to those with ballet experience.

Tai Chi Easy With Bill Stevens

Tai Chi Easy is a carefully developed method and approach to Tai Chi and Qi (Chi). Easy, beneficial, and fun from the beginning. No need to devote years to learning the traditional movement form or even the shortened form to enjoy the calming emotional and health benefits of Tai Chi. Tai Chi Easy can be done sitting, standing, or walking. Movements may be done individually or in combination.  Since it is a mind/body integration practice, it can reduce your stress, and create a state of relaxation and calm. Join us! It is safe for people of all ages and levels of fitness as the movements are low impact and place minimal stress on muscles and joints.
