SAT Prep Boot Camp

Most students retake the SATS at least once. Before you plan a re-take, take advantage of this one-day, intensive refresher. Focus on strategies for sentence completion, reading comprehension and common vocabulary. Review grammar and successful essay writing tactics. In addition to reviewing basic algebra and geometry skill sets that are commonly assessed, students will focus on understanding test format and strategies that will increase confidence and performance. Graphing calculators are recommended as time and attention will be given to their effective uses. The program hours are divided evenly between verbal and math review and includes a 30 minute break. Brown bag lunch/snack recommended. Workbook provided to students registered by Oct 10h. After this date, students must purchase study guide.

Sessions provide confidence and skills by focusing on essential success strategies for boosting scores. In-depth review of SAT core material and question types that most commonly appear on the SAT. Includes timed practice and detailed examination of actual SAT questions. Test format changes will be considered as appropriate. Workbook provided to students registered by Oct 20th. After this date students must purchase study guide.  8 SESSIONS

New! Virtual Reality: The Future Is Now

Embark on an EPIC adventure in virtual reality! Learn the foundations of VR design by creating your own virtual worlds, exploring simulated environments, and crafting memorable 3D experiences. Take home your first cardboard VR headset to show friends and family the new worlds you created. VR projects can be viewed on a website or a mobile device. Students do not need a mobile device to take the class, but to use the VR headset at home children need access to an Android or Apple mobile device. Students will work in pairs or teams and VR Games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. 3 SESSIONS

Creative Design And Robotics

The world of the future belongs to…robots! Learn the fundamentals of motorized mechanisms, design principles, sensors, and sound activation. Separate fact from fantasy by designing and building prototypes of task-oriented robots. Learn problem-solving to improve how their robots function in a series of design challenges! Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. 3 SESSIONS

Minecraft Modders

Use your favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods! Introductory coding will also be taught through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft. Student projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. To access their project at home students must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years. 3 SESSIONS
