“The starting point of all achievement is desire.”
(Napoleon Hill)
While all first-year EOF students are required to participate in the EOF College Preparatory Summer Institute, there is no cost to participate!
Our first-year students have a great desire to do the very best they can in managing successfully the start to their college career at Brookdale Participating in our College Preparatory Summer Institute – commonly referred to as “Summer Bridge” – is their starting point.
Summer Bridge is a major component and the first investment in our partnership. It is a testimony of our EOF students’ willingness to put in the extra work needed to move closer to their academic, career, and personal goals.

The extra steps Summer Bridge students take may include classes to strengthen their:
- reading skills
- writing skills
- math skills
In addition, all Summer Bridge students participate in activities that:
- explore career interests
- acquire a wider view of the importance of civic engagement
- exercise social responsibility
- educate on the importance of financial literacy as a life skill
Each EOF student is assigned an EOF Student Success Coach, who are committed to assisting students with navigating their pathways to success – doing so throughout the student’s enrollment at Brookdale.
Summer Bridge also provides an opportunity to receive assistance in completing the financial aid processing, which ensures all college costs are paid for through grants – which do not have to be paid back!
