Dr Edith Rogovin Frankel, author, historian During the earliest period of American history, the majority of the limited Jewish immigration to the Colonies was of Spanish/Portuguese origin. Gradual changes brought more Jews from the German states and Eastern Europe. But the numbers remained quite small. How did these immigrants fit into the new nation and how much did they participate in the two major wars of the ensuing century? Learn about the new Jewish communities that sprang up as well as new forms of Jewish worship.
