Once the richest colony in the Caribbean, Haiti was called “La Perle des Antilles” – the Pearl of the Caribbean. Everybody was fascinated by the culture and wanted a piece of it. Today, Haiti is among the poorest nations in the world and the poorest in the Western Hemisphere. How did this happen? Dr. Elezier Marcellus, Co-Founder of NJ for Haiti will share his insights and perspectives on Haiti’s history and current context.
