Ophelia, Lady Macbeth, Beatrice, Viola, Rosalind, Olivia, Desdemona, Tamora, Queen of the Goths – famed Shakespeare women, all. Shakespeare was a master at creating realistic, fascinating female characters. Listen to Former dean Carl Calendar discuss these numerous, heroic and sometimes wicked women, explaining their great speeches, their relationship with men, and their roles in the plays that bring them to life.
