Roe Schanely is a freshman here at Brookdale Community College, planning to major in Psychology. They faced many challenges surrounding their mental health that impacted their educational path. Roe was left with the only option to unenroll from middle school after seventh grade due to mental health, an unsupportive school environment, bullying, and being assaulted by classmates. After homeschooling didn’t work out, they moved to a new town for high school. They later dropped out of high school at 16 years old for similar reasons.
Roe will be speaking about how their mental health has affected the way they were treated growing up in school and gymnastics. Regardless of their rocky introduction to school, they are currently a college student with a 4.0 GPA at 17 years old. Come hear about their schooling experiences and how they got to where they are now.
