A presentation on China’s elaborate system of censorship at various levels. This involves denying the people’s access to information from foreign sources as well as free expression. The talk will cover several operational and technical tools such as denying access to websites, monitoring chat rooms and social media, face recognition, identifying dissidents etc. We will especially cover the Chinese Communist Party’s motivation for stifling free express and access. Ultimately, this reflects the CCP’s effort to shape and manipulate Chinese society.
