William Butler Yeats, winner of the 1923 Noble Prize in Literature, is best known for his association with the Irish Literary Revival, the Abbey Theatre, and as one of the greatest poets of the 20th Century. Lesser known are the remarkable women who inspired his creative genius – an heiress, a countess, a playwright, a poet, a revolutionary, a novelist, an actress, to name a few. This class focuses on the lived of these exceptional women, noteworthy for their own accomplishments, while examining their relationships with Yeats at various stages of his life.
