Discuss topics spanning the birth and demise of major parties such as The Federalists and Whigs, the creation of party nomination conventions, the growth of political primaries, third party politics, and the unusual switch in policy positions of the two major parties on important issues. Review 20th Century presidential elections that reflected major party realignments.
