|“Winter Solstice Festival” is a festival which celebrated in (mainly) China, Japan, and South Korea. This festival takes place when the sunlight is very weak and the daylight stays only for a short period.
As this event occur during the one day where the night stays longer than the day, we prepare lots of lights that will brighten or lit up the “night.” They come in the forms of lanterns and also a tree that symbolizes the tree of life. We also prepare some cultural experiences. Writing Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters calligraphy on your given lanterns, for example, which you can experience in each country that you visit.
Students can take lots of pictures in different spots in the room which they can share on Instagram by tagging Asia Society Club and Collage.
The Winter Solstice Festival will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in Navesink Room 2 & 3. The doors will be open from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (college hours).
