What brought you to Brookdale?
I had studied French, Quark and Photoshop at Brookdale.
Describe one or more of your biggest achievements as a Brookdale faculty member:
I have expanded the use of the CVA Gallery in the variety of exhibitions we offer, opening it up to the Teen Arts Festival, as well as turning it into a classroom for new courses in Docent Training and Exhibition Installation.
Do you work outside of the college?
I am a former writer and editor for Art Matters and Art Forms magazines, and my articles have appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer; Philadelphia Art Matters; Greater Media Newspapers; The Two River Times; and The Asbury Park Press. I have also exhibited paintings and sculpture at the Monmouth County Art Alliance and the Monmouth Museum.
What would you say is your most memorable moment – or moments – as a member of the Brookdale community?
As faculty advisor to the Art Club, I was able to help and encourage architecture students to use the entire club budget to create a permanent sculpture on campus. That sculpture in on view outside the CVA building today.
What do you think separates Brookdale from other colleges?
Brookdale welcomes the local community on many levels. It has a beautiful art building with outstanding studios and gallery. Our students have tremendous opportunities to develop their creative skills under the guidance of a well-trained, professional faculty, and can experience the magic of seeing their own works on display in a professional gallery.
