The Creative Writing Program is part of the English Department and offers workshops in mixed genre, fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and screenwriting. Our instructors are accomplished authors, poets, and artists who enjoy working with students. Many creative writing courses are popular choices for general education or elective credit.
Creative Writing majors can earn the Humanities A.A. degree with a Creative Writing option. The program has articulation agreements with numerous schools inside and outside of New Jersey, such as Montclair University, Rutgers University, the New School in NYC, and Goddard College in Vermont.
In addition to classes, the program includes a monthly Visiting Writers Series, a student Creative Writing Club, and an award-winning student magazine called Collage. In the spring, students are invited to participate in a capstone student reading and celebration of their creative work.
