Study Abroad – Italy: Interior Design & Architecture

Back To The Future

Rome, Florence, Venice. Been there? Done that? We get it. Which is why this “Back-to-the- Future”-style adventure takes a different tack on the study of architecture and interior design in the Mediterranean. Starting way “Back” in time, we’ll go under the wire and around the typical tourist traps to experience some of the earlier, lesser known, more primal and powerful examples of the temple form still standing — at Paestum. From contemplating those awesome forms in exterior space, we’ll move inside. At the ancient Roman cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii, we’ll experience what residential interior space and decoration was like in Classical Antiquity among the best-preserved examples in existence. But wait, there’s more! Take a long, last look at Mount Vesuvius before stepping into our time machine and hurtling into the “Future.” To where else but Milan. In this mecca of the contemporary design world and home of the legendary, annual Salone del Mobile, we’ll explore the must-see stops for designers and examine some of the greatest works of 20th and 21st century interior design, furniture, and decorative arts as well as the newest, most cutting-edge — and a bit of the unexpected! For more details, please attend one of our info sessions.
