Chef - Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club (Atlantic Highlands)
Position Summary
The Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club is looking for an enthusiastic, personable, creative, and fully qualified Chef to continue to build a unique dining experience for our membership as they take in stunning views of the Atlantic Highlands Harbor and New York Skyline.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and plan menus and daily/weekly specials.
Manage food costing and inventory (purchasing).
Maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance.
Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
Certified in food safety.
Establish maintenance and cleaning schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas.
Participate in the interview process and selection of bar & galley staff.
Manage and schedule staff while assisting in human resources processes as needed.
Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of culinary techniques and practices
Understanding of menu and recipe development techniques
Strong leadership abilities
Ongoing awareness of culinary trends
Understanding of health and sanitation laws
Excellent knife-handling skills
Applied wine and beverage knowledge.
Upbeat flair for showmanship
Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school degree or equivalent
Formal culinary training / culinary degree
3-5 years’ experience in high-volume kitchens
Previous kitchen management experience
ServSafe certification
