Medical Receptionist/Front Office Specialist, Abilities in Action (Shrewsbury & Wall)

Position Summary

Abilities in Action has an opening for a full-time or part-time Medical Receptionist in a busy outpatient pediatric rehabilitation setting.


Essential Responsibilities:

Ensure accuracy of patient records.

Scheduling patients.

Collect and process payments from customers.

Manage authorizations from third party payors.

Greet patients professionally and courteously.

Maintain the smooth flow of communication between the patient and provider.

Keep clinic and waiting area clean, organized and safe.

Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously.

Collect information from new patients and verify their benefits.

Responsibilities, skills and working conditions may change as needs evolve.


Education and Experience:

High School Diploma required

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration preferred

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office setting


Physical Requirements:

The work of a medical receptionist requires walking about and sitting at a computer for extended periods of time.

Manual dexterity needed for using a computer keyboard.

Must be able to reach lift 30 pounds and reach overhead.


Environmental/Working Conditions:

Professional office environment.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.


Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.

Knowledge of scheduling and billing programs.

Knowledge of business office procedures.

Knowledge of basic medical coding.

Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records programs (EMR).

Must be proficient in Windows 10 operating system and Microsoft Office.

Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.

Excellent telephone skills & etiquette.

Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and

employees.

Must be well organized and detail-oriented.

Must have strong management skills.

Must have experience communicating with insurance companies (verifying benefits, sending

claims to be reprocessed, etc).

Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities.


Job Location: Shrewsbury, NJ and Wall, NJ


Salary: $18.00/hour
