We aim to create an inclusive, equitable environment where students and faculty can thrive, innovate, and lead transformative shifts in a diverse and ever-changing world.

Trust In Elections Living Room Conversations

POSTPONED- On Trust | AI: real vs. fake September 26, Thursday 3:00PM

On Trust | AI: real vs. fake POSTPONED

  • The Problem: We know the 2024 elections results will be questioned.
  • The Opportunity: How might we build trust in elections & each other?
  • Our Commitment: We can focus on listening to understand, fairness, love of family, community & country, and respect for the dignity of our neighbors.
  • The Format: Our community conversations will be active and participatory.
  • Registration: Link
  • Location: The Wellness Center
  • Duration: 75 minutes, Monthly
  • The Wellness Center will be offering a mind-body release after each conversation.

How can we bridge common cultural and personal divides during these tough times?

We will have Living Room Conversations, an open space for participants to share their perspectives, concerns, and hopes regarding trust in elections. Do you have personal experiences you want to share? Do you have insights from your community you desire to explore with others across the college? Are you curious about how others think? We will map the room. Mapping the Room is a collective conversation expressed in movements, wherein participants reveal where they stand on an issue by virtue of where they stand in the room. We will ask questions like, Do you feel misunderstood by people who think differently than you?

Resources for in and out of the classroom:

A bipartisan effort, this is a resource guide by the Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) designed to help support students emotionally during the post-election period. It offers a timeline with prompts, activities, and resources focused on understanding election results, debunking myths, combating cynicism, and staying engaged in civic activities. The guide emphasizes the importance of addressing misinformation and disinformation, and encourages students to stay informed and active in local and national politics. Created specifically for 2020, the information is still relevant.
