Office 365 for Home Use

As part of Brookdale’s Enterprise licensing agreement with Microsoft, all Brookdale employees and students are eligible to download Microsoft Office 365 FREE of charge!  This subscription will install the most recent Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, One Note, Publisher, nd Access ) on your personal computer.

  • Setup is simple: no need to wait for IT
  • Install on up to 5 devices: compatible PCs, Macs, mobile devices and tablets (including iPad!).
  • Includes 1TB of cloud storage from OneDrive where you can store, share, and easily access your files
  • Office subscription continues as long as you’re working at this school and the program continues

PC and Mac Download Instructions

Follow these easy steps to get Office 365 for home use.

  1. Visit http://portal.office.com
  2. Enter your complete Brookdale email address and your NetID password

NOTE: If prompted to select an account, select the “Work or school account” option.

  1. Click Sign in
  2. On the download site click install
  3. Follow the online instructions for downloading and installing on your PC, Mac or Laptop.

NOTE for MAC User: You will be prompted with an activation screen after installation. Please select the second option which is “Sign in with a 365 account” (rather than the first option which is “Enter a product key”). Login with your Brookdale email address and password.  This will activate your copy of Office.

Mobile Download Instructions

iOS Devices (iPhone and iPad – requires iOS 7.0 or higher )`

  1. Visit http://portal.office.com
  2. Enter your complete Brookdale email address and your NetID password
  3. Click Sign in

NOTE: If prompted to select an account, select the “Work or school account” option.

  1. Click the Get Office on your devices link
  2. Select your device
  3. Select the applications to install on your mobile device
  4. Follow the online instructions for downloading and installing on your mobile device or tablet.

Android Devices (requires KitKat 4.4 or later version and have an ARM-based or Intel x86 processor.Android KitKat 4.4 or later version and have an ARM-based or Intel x86 processor.)

You must first install a certificate on an Android device before installing any of the Office 365 Application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and One Note).

  1. Click the the following hyperlink to install the Certificate on your device.
    • You will be prompted to enter a name for the certificate.
    • Enter “Office 365” and click OK. Depending on your device, you may be asked to enter your PIN or security code to install the certificate.

  2. Visit http://portal.office.com
  3. Enter your complete Brookdale email address and your NetID password
  4. Click Sign in

NOTE: If prompted to select an account, select the “Work or school account” option.

  4. Follow the online instructions for downloading and installing on your mobile device or tablet.

Before you install any Microsoft Office 365 application, we recommend that you verify that your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements for the product. NOTE: If you have an earlier version of Microsoft Office installed on your home personal computer and have problems installing the Office 365, you may need to uninstall the earlier version of Office from your machine.  Refer to the following Microsoft Office Support Documentation.
