Interested in applying for the EOF Rising Leaders Academy?

The EOF Rising Leaders Academy, a service-based student leadership program, provides its student staff financial support in the form of EOF state funding for summer positions, July- August, and Federal Work-Study funds for school year, September-June. The pay-rate is $8.38 an hour.

Students seeking positions must have maintained a record of active participation in one or more of the following: community service, student clubs/organizations, athletics, community/church activities, and/or similar experiences.

Summer Positions

Students seeking summer positions must be able to work at minimum 15 hours per week, and must have maintained a record of full-time college enrollment prior to submitting an application. Summer positions are NOT open to current high school students who will be first year college students starting in September.

Student applicants for summer positions must have both the desire and ability to organize.

School Year Positions, September-June

Students during the school year, September-June, must be able to work at minimum 10 hours per week. There is a weekly three hour in-service class session that must be attended and this session allows students to explore social issues of interest to them, and participate in team development and project planning activities. Work hours beyond the weekly class session are assigned to additional project planning, special focus educational field trips, and direct service projects.

Job Summary Statement

Responsibilities require organizing and participating in community service, issue advocacy, and public education projects in support of educational, business, governmental, and non-profit communities who are addressing issues of hunger, homelessness, environmental sustainability, civil rights, human rights, political empowerment, health and educational disparities, and other local and global issues. There is the additional responsibility for promoting the participation of other students in EOF Rising Leaders Academy events.

Service Projects

Types of service projects are listed below to illustrate the kind of work members of the EOF Rising Leaders Academy engage in.

SAMPLE: MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Walk

Volunteers Needed: The 5k event is looking for volunteers to be a part of the Cheering Crew or a Mission Maniac.

Cheer Crew: Cheer crew volunteers are stationed at cheer zones along the route to encourage and cheer on event participants, monitor the course and direct any participants during the walk.

Mission Maniacs: Maniacs circulate through the crowd to welcome and direct event participants, thank people for participating, distribute Walk MS goodies to participants and cheer on participants.

SAMPLE: Special Strides Color Fun Run 5K, Sunday, April 19th

The Special Strides 5K Color Walk/Run in Monroe is a unique experience focused less on speed and more on crazy color fun with friends and family.

SAMPLE: Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweep

Volunteers Needed: Help rid the beach of litter-Union Beach Location

SAMPLE: Van Trip to Education Law Center Lecture, Rutgers

Marian Wright Edelman, Children’s Defense Fund Founder and President has provided outstanding service and commitment to advancing equal educational opportunity for public school children across the country. She will deliver a lecture that will inspire us to action on behalf of our nation’s families and children!

SAMPLE: Denim Day, Sexual Violence & Prevention & Education Campaign

Take action! Wear jeans on this day as a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. Make a social statement as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual assault.

Stop by the Student Life Center as members of the EOF Rising Leaders Academy will be handing out educational material, taking and uploading community member pictures with personal statements on this issue for their Facebook page. Other activities are planned.

SAMPLE: America’s PrepareAthon

Volunteers Needed: America’s PrepareAthon! is a grassroots campaign for action to increase community preparedness and resilience. Join other students as they canvas local communities handing out educational materials on emergency preparedness.
