The Department of Student Life & Activities invites all employees of the College to participate in this year’s commencement ceremonies on Thursday, May 10, 2018, in the Robert Collins Arena.
The morning ceremony honoring AA graduates starts at 10 AM, and the afternoon ceremony for AS, ASA, and certificate graduates will start at 3 PM.
Please see below for further information.
Are you a member of the dais / platform party? All dais participants are asked to coordinate their academic regalia order and details of participation with Michelle Stathum in the Office of Advancement. Please call 732-224-2705 or email email@example.com
Do you want to help out at graduation? All employees are invited to volunteer at the ceremonies. Student Life & Activities needs help with student robing, assisting guests, and coordinating various activities for this important event. If you are interested in volunteering, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, and include your t-shirt size. The deadline to sign-up for volunteering is April 20, 2018.
Faculty and Administrators are invited to participate in the procession. As in years past, the college will cover the cost of renting your academic regalia. If you want to participate in the ceremony processions and do not already own academic regalia for the ceremonies, please complete the Academic Regalia Graduation Order Form found here. Our vendor, Worldwide Gear, will produce the appropriate academic regalia and have it available for pick up from the Scroll and Pen bookstore in the Warner Student Life Center from April 30, 2018- May 8, 2018. (Please note, if you already own your own academic regalia and are planning to participate, please simply complete the Graduation Participation Form found here.) With this information, we can accurately set up chairs and order food. The deadline to both order academic regalia and sign up for participation is April 6, 2018.
Procession participants are asked to arrive at the Twin Lights Rooms at 9 AM for the morning session, and at 2 PM for the afternoon. Student Life & Activities will be providing coffee service in Twin Lights in the morning, as well as lunch in the afternoon for all faculty and administrators participating and volunteering in graduation between ceremonies in the Navesink Rooms of the Warner Student Life Center. After each ceremony, there will be a reception with light refreshments on the patio of the Student Life Center. Please stop by to take photos with your graduates.
Faculty and staff: have a family member graduating this year? The Student Success Division would like to invite full-time employees who have a child or spouse graduating in May to present a “diploma” to their loved one. Please contact the Student Life & Activities office by e-mailing email@example.com by May 1, 2018 with your name and the name of your graduate so that seating can be arranged to prevent interruption of the flow of the ceremony.
Faculty: have an exemplary student graduating? If one of your students is graduating and you feel he or she has a compelling story to share, please encourage them to enter the competition to present the student speech at their respective ceremony. Also, if you know an involved student leader who is graduating, please encourage them to run for the graduate trustee position. More details about these student activities may be found in Information for Graduates.
