The Department of Student Engagement invites all employees of the College to participate in this year’s commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 12 in the Robert Collins Arena.
The morning ceremony honoring AA graduates starts at 10 AM, and the afternoon ceremony for AS, ASA, and certificate graduates will start at 3 PM.
Please see below for further information.
Are you a member of the dais / platform party? All dais participants are asked to coordinate their academic regalia order and details of participation with Michelle Stathum, in the Office of Advancement at 732-224-2705 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Do you want to help out at graduation? All employees are invited to volunteer at the ceremonies. Student Engagement needs help with student robing, assisting guests, and coordinating various activities for this important event. If you are interested in volunteering please e-mail Rashmika Wesley at email@example.com All volunteers are asked to participate in our coordinating meeting on Wednesday, May 3, at 11:30 AM in the Trustees Conference Room of the Warner Center.
We are again this year looking for volunteers willing to read graduate names for the ceremony. If you are interested in this role please e-mail Robert Quinones at firstname.lastname@example.org Volunteer readers need to be available the afternoon of Thursday, May 11, for a practice run / sound check in the Arena.
Faculty and Administrators are invited to participate in the procession. As in years past the college will cover the cost of renting your academic regalia. If you want to participate in the ceremony processions please email email@example.com In your email please give us your name, department, the academic level of your robe, and the academic area of study your degree is in. Our vendor Worldwide Gear will produce the appropriate academic regalia and have them available for pick up from the Scroll and Pen bookstore in the Warner Student Life Center at the beginning of May. If you own your own academic regalia but are planning to participate please e-mail us by Monday, April 3 and give us your name and department. With this information we can accurately set up chairs and order food.
Procession participants are asked to arrive at the Twin Lights Rooms at 9 AM for the morning session, and at 2 PM for the afternoon. Student Engagement will be providing coffee service in Twin Lights in the morning as well as lunch in the afternoon between ceremonies in the Navesink Rooms of the Warner Student Life Center. After each ceremony there will be a reception with light refreshments on the patio of the Student Life Center. Please stop by to take photos with your favorite graduates.
Faculty and staff: have a family member graduating this year? The Student Success Division would like to invite full-time employees who have a child or spouse graduating in May to present a “diploma” to their loved one. Please contact the Student Engagement office by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, May 1, with your name and the name of your graduate so that seating can be arranged to prevent interruption of the flow of the ceremony.
Faculty: have an exemplary student graduating? If one of your students is graduating and you feel he or she has a compelling story to share, please encourage them to enter the competition to present the student speech at their respective ceremony. Also, if you know an involved student leader who is graduating, please encourage them to run for the graduate trustee position. More details about these student activities may be found in Information for Graduates.
