The Brookdale men’s basketball team finished their regular season, 21-4, as they defeated the 12-14 Union County College Owls in a conference match-up, 70-48.

Within the first 10 minutes of the game, the score went from 11-6, to Brookdale going on a 29-9 run with a 40-15 halftime score in favor of the Blues. The romp continued into the second half as the Owls couldn’t get past a 17 point deficit.

Freshman forward, Devin Strickland lit up the night with his career-high 22 points as leading scorer. Freshman guard, Kevin Mateo, was hot from the 3-point line, hitting four in a row, and totaled 16 points in the books. Also on the board was, freshman forward, Ronn Flood, with 12 points, eight assists, and five rebounds, and freshman guard, Andre Wells posted 11 points.

The Jersey Blues have earned the #4 seed and will receive a bye in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XIX Tournament. Brookdale will host the #5 seed, Atlantic Cape Community College, on Tuesday, February 22nd, at 7:00pm.

The game will be held in the Robert J. Collins Arena, located at 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ, parking lot #6.

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee will be hosting a “Spirit Day” for the February 22nd game and will give out Brookdale Jersey Blues t-shirts to all Brookdale students that come out and support the team!
