Brookdale, Monmouth County’s official county college, is certified by the State of New Jersey through the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (NJOSHE) and the United States through the United States Department of Education (USDOE) to grant associate degrees and certificates to students who complete formal programs of study.

Brookdale is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is an institutional accrediting body that evaluates and accredits higher education institutions to ensure they meet established standards of quality. MSCHE is recognized by both the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

To maintain accreditation, institutions must demonstrate ongoing compliance with MSCHE’s Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation through regular monitoring and review, including periodic evaluation through the Self-Study Process. MSCHE reaffirmed Brookdale’s accreditation in June 2019. Brookdale will undergo its next Self-Study in Academic Year 2026–2027.

Brookdale adheres to the Public Disclosures Policy, which calls for the College to publicly disclose consumer information in a manner that is honest and truthful, and accurately represents its current accreditation phase, accreditation status, and scope of accreditation. The Nursing Program, A.A.S. (NURSG) is accredited by two separate entities – the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the New Jersey Boad of Nursing (NJBON).

Radiologic Technology

The Radiologic Technology Program, A.A.S. (RADTH) is accredited by two separate entities — the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the New Jersey Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners.

The New Jersey Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners, 25 Arctic Parkway, Ewing, NJ 08638.

The Board of Examiners granted the Radiologic Technology program initial accreditation in 2000. Since 2005, the Board of Examiners has based their accreditation off of JRCERT’s recommendation.

Human Services

CSHSE most recently granted the Human Services Program reaccreditation with no conditions in November 2023. The program’s next accreditation review is scheduled for June 2028.

Automotive Technology

  • The Automotive Technology Option, A.A.S. (AUTCH) meets the requirements for the Automobile Service Technology (AST) accreditation.
  • The Automotive Engineering Technology Option, A.A.S. (AUENG) meets the requirements for the Automobile Service Technology (AST) accreditation.
  • The Automotive Technician Academic Credit Certificate of Achievement (AUTOTA) meets the requirements for the Automobile Service Technology (AST) accreditation.
  • The GM Automotive Service Educational Program (GM-ASEP), A.A.S. (AUGMA) meets the requirements for Master Automobile Service Technology (MAST) Accreditation — the highest level of program accreditation recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

The ASE Education Foundation most recently granted the Automotive Technology program continuing accreditation in April 2025. The program’s next accreditation review is scheduled for 2030.

Culinary Arts

  • The Culinary Arts Program, A.A.S. (CULAR) has an accreditation status of Exemplary — the highest educational standard recognized by the ACFEF.
  • The Culinary Arts Academic Credit Certificate (CULCAC) has an accreditation status of Exemplary — the highest educational standard recognized by the ACFEF.
  • The Pastry Arts Academic Credit Certificate (CUPSTC) has an accreditation status of Exemplary — the highest educational standard recognized by the ACFEF.

The ACFEF Accrediting Commission most recently granted the Culinary Arts Program exemplary accreditation status in January 2020. The program’s accreditation status expires at the end of December 2026.

Alternate Route to Teaching

The Brookdale Community College Alternate Route to Teaching Program received initial accreditation from the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), 173 Milkweed Dr. Lake Frederick, VA 22630. P: (301) 276-5106

AAQEP most recently granted the Alternate Route to Teaching Program its initial accreditation in September 2024. Initial accreditation from AAQEP is valid through December 2029.
