Welcome to Global Citizenship Distinction

Together, we can change the world!

Students who participate in the Global Citizenship Distinction (GCD) program will be well-prepared to succeed in an interconnected and ever-changing global environment. They will enhance their academic experience, develop valuable interpersonal skills, and make a positive contribution to their communities—both globally and locally.

In GCD, students form a cohort and take self-selected Globally Enhanced Classes, many of which meet general education requirements. GCD members are also active on campus and in their communities. The Students for Global Citizenship (S4GC) Club, which is open to all, is the primary way that GCD scholars earn cocurricular credit, but some students may choose to engage in comparable endeavors of their choice, such as volunteer or community service projects that are relevant to their field of study. In their final semester at Brookdale, all GCD scholars will complete a flexible capstone project that showcases their learning.

Students who have successfully completed the program requirements (curricular, cocurricular, and capstone) will receive special recognition and be awarded Global Citizenship Distinction. This honor is an impressive addition to any resume, but more than that, it prepares students for academic and personal success while empowering them to become the positive change-makers of the future!

To learn more about this unique academic and cocurricular initiative, please complete the GCD Initial Inquiry Form. If you have any questions, please contact the faculty coordinator.
