The Center for Adult Transition (C.A.T.) supports young neurodiverse adults in building independence, developing real-world life and workplace skills, and preparing for the next stage of adulthood.
Through hands-on learning and guided experiences, students gain the confidence, workplace readiness, and practical skills needed to move forward with greater independence.

C.A.T. Connections Week
Explore healthy summer recipes, art, journaling, movement, outdoor adventures, vision boards, and social experiences while building meaningful connections in a supportive and engaging environment. Wrap up the week with a fun and exciting bus trip!

Engage in a hands-on learning experience growing, nurturing, and harvesting both food and flowers.

Gain essential gardening skills, explore the fascinating web of life in our natural world, and embrace the simple joy of growing fresh organic food. Join certified horticulturist Molly Gearty to discover the benefits of gardening. Nurturing seeds into thriving plants fosters pride and independence.

Our Space
Our state-of-the-art facility has been thoughtfully designed to serve the unique needs of young adults with differing abilities. The space includes:
- A fully equipped kitchen and café
- A hydroponic system
- High-tech classroom and training stations
- An outdoor garden center
- A welcoming student lounge area
The establishment of the Center for Adult Transition at Brookdale was made possible in partnership with the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education through funding provided by the “County College-Based Centers for Adult Transition Grant.”
