Barringer Award Dinner: March 26, 2026

This annual award is presented to individuals who best epitomize the quality of excellence in education. It is named for Brookdale’s third president, Dr. Bob Barringer, who passed away in June 2017.

The Barringer Award stands as one of Brookdale’s most historic and prestigious honors, recognizing individuals whose contributions have left a lasting impact on our students, institution, and community. As you consider potential nominees, we ask that you reflect deeply on the scope and significance of their achievements. Nominations should be thoughtfully prepared, highlighting specific examples that speak to the dedication and impact of the nominee and reflect the established criteria. Please review the eligibility guidelines and areas of achievement carefully before drafting and submitting your nomination.

The recipients are selected by the Barringer award committee using the following criteria and the materials submitted by their nominators.

1. Past recipients of the award are not eligible to be nominated.
2. Must be current Brookdale faculty, staff, administrators, and Trustees (Foundation & College Board).
3. Outstanding service to students via the classroom or other College-sponsored educational activities that enhance students’ educational experiences and opportunity to succeed.
4. Outstanding service to the institution in a leadership or inspirational role.
5. Outstanding service to the community that reflects well on the institution and enhances the College’s image.
6. Length of service.
