Brookdale Community College Launches New Sports Management Degree Program

From professional sports franchises and collegiate athletics to recreation, event management, and sports marketing, the business of sports continues to grow, and so do the career opportunities. To help students prepare for this exciting and fast-paced industry, Brookdale Community College is introducing a new Associate of Science (A.S.) in Sports Management.

The Sports Management Program combines a strong foundation in business with specialized coursework focused on the unique aspects of the sports industry. Students will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue careers in professional, collegiate, amateur, and recreational sports organizations while building a solid academic pathway for transfer to a four-year institution.

Throughout the program, students will explore the many facets of the sports industry, including sports operations, marketing, event management, leadership, communications, and organizational management. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of how sports organizations operate while preparing them to adapt to the industry’s evolving landscape.

Students in the program will learn to apply management principles in sports-related settings, develop marketing and communication strategies tailored to athletic organizations, and examine the ethical and legal issues that influence today’s sports industry. They will also explore the relationship between sports and society while gaining an understanding of the structure and operation of sports leagues and organizations.

Graduates will be prepared to pursue a variety of career paths, including sports marketing, coaching, athletic administration, sports agencies, event planning, facility management, athletic program development, public relations, and community recreation. The degree also provides an excellent foundation for students planning to transfer to a bachelor’s program in sports management, business, or a related field.
