Lincroft, NJ – Brookdale Community College presents the critically acclaimed Stephen Sondheim musical Into the Woods at the Brookdale Performing Arts Center. The musical’s theme is tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, and their interaction with a Witch and her curse on them. The musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales and follows them to explore the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The main characters are taken from “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Rapunzel”, and “Cinderella”, as well as several others.

The original Broadway production of Into the Woods won several Tony Awards in 1988, including Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress in a Musical. Throughout the musical, everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

The play will run on Fridays and Saturdays, April 12 & 13 and 19 & 20 at 8pm; and matinees on Sundays, April 14 and 21, at 2pm.

Tickets are $12 General admission; $10 for seniors, Brookdale staff, and children under 12; $5 for BCC students with a limit of two per student. A student ID is required.
