Brookdale Community College will award honorary associate degrees to acclaimed actress and filmmaker Siobhan Fallon Hogan and nonprofit leader and U.S. Navy veteran William Salcedo during its 2026 Commencement ceremonies on May 14. The honors, recommended by President David M. Stout and approved by the Board of Trustees, recognize each recipient’s exceptional achievements, leadership, and commitment to service.
Siobhan Fallon Hogan
Siobhan Fallon Hogan is an accomplished actress, writer, producer, and comedian whose career spans film, television, stage, and independent production. She is widely recognized for her roles in Forrest Gump, Men in Black, Holes, Dogville, and Dancer in the Dark, along with appearances on Saturday Night Live, Seinfeld, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Her work reflects both versatility and sustained excellence across multiple areas of the entertainment industry.
In addition to her acting career, Fallon Hogan is the founder of the independent film company Emerald Caz. Through this platform, she has written and produced socially relevant films such as Rushed and Shelter in Solitude, using storytelling to explore complex issues and inspire meaningful dialogue.
She recently launched a podcast, Catholics and Cappuccinos, which features thoughtful conversations on faith, creativity, and personal growth. Early episodes include interviews with Cathy Moriarty, Father Donald Haggerty, Patricia Heaton, Kevin James, and Jonathan Roumie. Through these discussions, Fallon Hogan continues to engage audiences in conversations that reflect purpose, faith, and the human experience.
Her career is also defined by resilience and determination. Early in her journey, she overcame challenges in breaking into Broadway by writing and performing her own one-woman shows, ultimately gaining national recognition. Her ability to adapt, create, and collaborate has been central to her long-standing success.
William Salcedo
William Salcedo is a respected nonprofit executive, youth development leader, and U.S. Navy veteran whose career reflects a deep commitment to service and community impact. As Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey since 2008, he has expanded the organization from serving 300 youth each year to more than 2,000 across ten counties. Under his leadership, the organization now operates with a $3.8 million budget and has earned national recognition for its quality and effectiveness.
Salcedo has also served in leadership roles on advisory boards focused on human services, trauma-informed care, violence prevention, and statewide initiatives addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences. He is a member of Brookdale’s President’s Community Advisory Council and a strong advocate for expanding access to higher education.
His career reflects integrity, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to mentoring and developing future leaders. Through his work, he has made a lasting impact on thousands of young people and families across New Jersey.
