Community Invited to Help Raise $12,500 to Support Food Access and Student Success

No student should have to choose between putting food on the table and pursuing an education. This October, Brookdale Community College is joining community colleges across New Jersey in the statewide Feed the Future campaign, inviting the community to help fight student hunger and ensure that access to nutritious food is never a barrier to academic success.

With a fundraising goal of $12,500, Brookdale’s campaign will support the Monmouth Medical Nutrition Hub, located in the College’s Caroline Huber Wellness Center. The Nutrition Hub provides students with nutritious groceries, convenient Grab-and-Go meals, household essentials and personal care items, all free of charge.

The need for these services is significant. During the last academic year, the Nutrition Hub provided weekly grocery support to 5,119 individuals and families and served 56,122 Grab-and-Go meals to Brookdale students. These resources help students meet basic needs while balancing the demands of coursework, employment and family responsibilities.

Food insecurity can affect a student’s ability to concentrate, attend classes and complete a degree. By providing reliable access to nutritious meals and essential supplies, the Nutrition Hub helps remove those barriers, allowing students to focus on their education and future opportunities.

Last year, Brookdale’s community came together to raise more than $10,500 for the Nutrition Hub. This October, the College hopes to build on that generosity and expand its impact with a goal of $12,500.

The campaign also embraces the spirit of the fall harvest season, encouraging individuals, businesses, alumni and community organizations to come together and share their resources to help students thrive.

Every contribution, regardless of size, can help provide a meal, fill a grocery bag or supply everyday necessities. More importantly, each gift sends a message to students that their community believes in their potential and is invested in their success.

Community members are encouraged to support Brookdale’s Feed the Future campaign throughout October. Donations can be made online at http://spot.fund/dktthxrsc.

Together, the community can help nourish students today while building brighter futures for tomorrow.
