LINCROFT, NJ (June 10, 2015) – Brookdale Community College’s 14th annual “Shakespeare on the Lawn” series will run from July 9 – 19 on the Great Lawn of the Lincroft campus, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft.

This year’s production will feature William Shakespeare’s “Titus Andronicus,” a harrowing tale of a series of violent conflicts between the Roman general Titus and Tamora, Queen of the Goths. The play, written in the late 16th century, is considered to be one of Shakespeare’s first tragedies.

“This play is not for the squeamish,” said director and Brookdale theater professor John Bukovec. “‘Titus’ is an adrenaline-charged play, depicting people behaving badly who are willing to do anything to satisfy their own wants, needs and desires. It is a brutal, unflinching look at what we are willing to do for family, and why.”

The open-air performances will feature more than 20 Brookdale students and actors from across Monmouth County. Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets to the show.

“Titus Andronicus” will be presented at 7 p.m. July 9 -11 and July 16 – 18, and at 6 p.m. on July 12 and 19.  Parking is available in lot 2.
