LINCROFT, NJ (Nov. 15, 2016) – Retirees and those approaching retirement are invited to a day of engaging discussion, networking and a catered brunch on Friday, Dec. 9 during the first ever Retirement Reimagined Conference at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft.

The conference, titled “Your Second Act,” will feature four guest speakers discussing various aspects of retirement in the 21st century.

Author and anti-ageism activist Ashton Applewhite will discuss her new book “This Chair Rocks,” which seeks to dispel myths about the “retirement blues” and extol the possibilities and potential happiness awaiting people later in life.

Former pharmaceutical professional Jacqueline Robinson will discuss her experience being downsized after a 30-year career, leading her to begin researching the novel approaches her fellow Baby Boomers are taking to retirement. Robinson will present the results of her research and explain why she believes Boomers are changing the face of retirement and beginning “second acts” of discovery and possibility.

Robert Cutrupi, senior portfolio director with the Cutrupi Group of Morgan Stanley, will also host a presentation titled “Stock Market Boot Camp,” and retired executive William Kenny will host a presentation titled “For Men Only: Adjusting to Retirement.”

“Following the day-dreamy imaginings of travel and leisure, many new retirees face an intimidating question: ‘What’s next?’” said Brookdale Lifelong Learning director Linda Martin. “For those who have spent so many years working, weekdays full of empty hours pose a brand new challenge. This conference will explore that transition and discuss some new and exciting ways that retirees are approaching it.”

The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 9 at Brookdale, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Admission is $69 and includes morning coffee and brunch. To register call 732-224-2315. For more information call Linda Martin at 732-224-2303 or email lmartin@brookdalecc.edu.
