Justin Melendez ’14 urged Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) students at the Graduate Recognition program on May 14 to “be advocates for yourselves and others.” Melenedez discussed the support he received from EOF staff and encouraged the recent graduates to “think critically and persevere in attaining your goals.”

The event highlighted the achievements of EOF graduates, including those who graduated as Distinguished Scholars, Members of Chi Alpha National Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, EOF Rising Leaders Academy and the National Society for Leadership and Success.

Other honorees included:

-Daniel Lopez, who received the EOF Champion Award. He is an associate professor in the mathematics department.

-Dr. Fidel Wilson who received the Leaders’ Quest Award. He is the director of the early college high school program & educational partnerships.

-Dr. Yesenia Madas, who received the Leaders’ Quest Award. She is the associate vice president of student affairs.
