As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the workplace, Brookdale Community College will offer a free virtual presentation designed to help students and community members better understand how AI is changing jobs, employer expectations and the skills needed to succeed.

“AI Literacy for Learning and Work” will be held virtually on Monday, November 23, from 8 to 9 a.m. The program is free and open to the community as a CCOG Tuition Free sponsored event. Register here for a link to the presentation.

The presentation will feature Lindsay Fitzpatrick, founder of Future Fluency Labs, who will draw on 13 years of experience in recruiting and her work in AI readiness and workforce strategy to offer practical insights into the rapidly changing world of work.

“The future of work isn’t just about using AI. It’s about knowing what you can do, how AI can strengthen those abilities, and how to build a personal brand that clearly communicates your skills, experience, and value,” said Jorge Terreros, director of CCOG Community Engagement in Brookdale’s Office of Governmental Affairs & Community Relations, who also teaches the MRKT 101 course hosting the presentation.

The presentation will go beyond how to use AI tools to explore what people should be learning as AI changes the tasks performed within jobs and how they can demonstrate their abilities to prospective employers.

Fitzpatrick will share real-world examples of how AI is changing everyday workplace responsibilities and what employees need to know to perform those tasks effectively. Participants will also learn how to communicate their strengths and support them with evidence from coursework, projects and professional experience.

The program will examine how technology is influencing hiring practices and employer expectations while helping participants consider how AI can support their educational and career goals. Attendees will also leave with practical questions they can ask about AI when selecting courses, exploring career opportunities or evaluating potential employers.

By opening the presentation to the broader community, Brookdale is providing students, job seekers, working professionals and others with an opportunity to better understand the skills and strategies that can help them navigate an AI-influenced workforce.
