LINCROFT, NJ (April 2, 2018) – Community members are invited to a free, expert-led panel discussion on the nation’s ongoing opiate epidemic at 6 p.m. on April 11 at Brookdale Community College, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft.

The program, organized by students in Brookdale’s History and Political Science Club and the Red Bank-based nonprofit Tigger House Foundation, will feature local medical experts, nonprofit leaders and recovery specialists discussing the epidemic’s impacts on the Jersey Shore region.

Panelists will also answer questions and provide insight into public and private recovery programs, new treatment options, outreach initiatives and other efforts to address the crisis.

Panelists include Dr. Victor Almeida, director of the emergency department at Monmouth Medical Center; Mariel Hufagnel, executive director of the Ammon Foundation; Eric McIntyre, recovery coach coordinator for the state’s Opioid Overdose Recovery Program; Dr. Stephanie Reynolds, chair of emergency medicine at Riverview Medical Center; Donald Rogers, addiction recovery specialist at Seabrook; and Vanessa Vitolo, community outreach coordinator for Victory Bay Recovery Center.
