A 2019-2020 Jersey Blue women’s soccer player, Dayna Van Pelt, has made a name for herself not only on the field but in the classroom as well. The NJCAA Region XIX announced that Van Pelt has earned the John Stauff Scholar-Athlete Award, which is given annually to a female student-athlete in Region XIX.

In her sole year as a sophomore defender in 2019, Van Pelt instantly made a name for herself on the field and earned second-team All-Region, All-Garden State Athletic Conference honors, and earned Defensive MVP of the Region XIX Tournament North Atlantic A Championship. She totaled three goals in the season, with one being the game-winner.

The following is the Region XIX JOHN STAUFF SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD criteria:

Criteria/Qualifications:

*must participate in an NJCAA sanctioned sport in Region XIX

*must have achieved a minimum of a 3.5GPA and 36 credits (transcript required)

*minimum of All-Conference, All-Region, and/or All-American recognition

*community service – e.g. club memberships, office held, assisting athletic or other college departments, etc.
