Rebekah Fischoff has recently been elected as the Graduate Trustee at Brookdale. This prestigious position not only recognizes her academic excellence but also highlights her leadership skills and commitment to serving the student community. Despite the unexpected detour in her educational journey, Rebekah’s experience at Brookdale has proven to be transformative.

Rebekah’s path took an unforeseen twist after she graduated from Manasquan High School in 2021. Although she had secured acceptances from esteemed institutions like William and Mary and the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, financial challenges arose due to her father’s declining health, impeding her ability to attend those universities. Consequently, she decided to enroll at Brookdale, leveraging the New Jersey Stars Program to pursue a top-notch education without the burden of student loans.

Brookdale turned out to be a place of incredible experiences for Rebekah.

“I never could have dreamed of the depth of opportunities that are available to students under the Brookdale umbrella,” she said.

With her sights set on a future in law or politics, she chose to major in Political Science. A professor encouraged her to join the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) and she additionally applied and was accepted into the Honors Program. From there, her journey took on a magical quality. Responding to the call for leadership positions within PTK, Rebekah applied and was appointed Vice President of Scholarship. The following summer, she embarked on a rewarding internship with State Senator Vin Gopal, who in return graciously accepted her invitation to speak at the Fall Induction ceremony for new PTK inductees. In recognition of her work with PTK, including her contributions to a proposed mentoring program for Brookdale, Rebekah received the Second Most Distinguished Chapter Officer Award at the PTK Middle States Regional Convention in Baltimore. Moreover, at the PTK International/National Convention held in Columbus, Ohio, she was selected as one of 30 distinguished officers chosen from nearly 1300 PTK chapters worldwide.

In addition to her academic pursuits and community involvement, Rebekah is the Office Manager for a wealth management firm in Brielle, NJ.

As Rebekah looks forward to assuming the position of Graduate Trustee, she is excited about making a positive impact and guiding Brookdale’s path in educating and nurturing future leaders.

“With an ear focused on the voice of the diverse student population and an eye looking forward to presenting the best opportunities available, I am excited to be in a position of leadership,” said Rebekah.

As Graduate Trustee, she intends to champion the needs and aspirations of her fellow students, ensuring that their voices are heard, and their concerns addressed at the highest levels of decision-making. Rebekah’s inspiring story serves as a testament to the power of determination and the resilience she has in the face of challenges.
