LINCROFT, NJ (May 5, 2015) – The Brookdale Community College Foundation will honor local community advocates Valerie Montecalvo and David Portman at the 2015 Brookdale Scholarship Ball, held May 29 at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club, 20 Shore Oaks Dr., Farmingdale.

The ball, held in support of the Foundation’s “Building Minds, Building Futures” scholarship fund, recognizes individuals and institutions for their support of higher education and their communities.

Montecalvo, owner and CEO of Bayshore Recycling Corp, is an avid environmentalist and supporter of several advocacy groups including the Nature Conservancy, Clean Ocean Action and Edison Wetlands.

Portman, president of Triad Property Management and Developmental Corporation, sits on the board for the Jewish Foundation in the Heart of New Jersey and serves as chair of the New Jersey Jewish Home for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

The ball will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions and music by the Carl Gentry Band. Individual tickets are $175. Sponsorship packages are available ranging from $500 to $7,500. For tickets or more information email Timothy Zeiss at tzeiss@brookdalecc.edu or call 732-224 2887.

The ball is the premier fundraising event for the Foundation’s scholarship fund, which supports Brookdale students who do not qualify for financial aid. This year the fund awarded nearly $400,000 in scholarships and grants to more than 500 students.
