The Center for Holocaust, Human Rights, and Genocide Education (Chhange) at Brookdale Community College presents Voices of Yazidi Women on October 3.

Over the past five years, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has perpetrated mass atrocities against the Yazidi religious minority in Iraq, including mass killings, forced conversions and the systematic rape and enslavement of Yazidi women.

Dr. Johanna Foster interviewed dozens of displaced Yazidi women who survived life under ISIL to better understand their experiences and perceptions in the aftermath of the atrocities. Foster will talk about her work, ethical journalism and the representation of survivors on the global stage.

The event will take place in the Student Life Center in the Monmouth Battleground room at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $10 per person for the general public and free for Brookdale students and faculty.
