Farm Production & Sanitation Laborer

Howell, NJ | $17–$20/hour | 22–26 hours/week

Regular schedule: Tuesday • Wednesday • Friday • Sunday

Part-time • Year-round • W-2 employment • Paid training

Farm 505 is a year-round commercial vertical hydroponic farm in Howell, NJ, producing fresh microgreens for customers throughout the region.

We are looking for dependable, hardworking team members to join our farm production crew.

Regular Weekly Schedule

Tuesday: 12 PM–finish, typically 5–7 hours

Wednesday: 10 AM–finish, typically about 6 hours

Friday: 12 PM–finish, typically 5–7 hours

Sunday: 10 AM–finish, typically about 6 hours

This position averages approximately 22–26 hours per week.

Applicants must be available to work all four regularly scheduled shifts. Because production volume varies, exact finish times may change from day to day.

Our crops follow a fixed growing and harvest schedule, so employees are expected to work when a holiday falls on a regularly scheduled workday.

Each shift includes a paid 30-minute meal break.

 

Job Responsibilities

This is a hands-on position involving crop production, packing support, cleaning, sanitation, and other day-to-day farm work.

What You’ll Do:

Your work will support the complete production cycle and help us maintain a clean, organized, food-safe growing operation.

Primary responsibilities include:

-Cleaning and sanitizing grow boards, equipment, tools, and production areas

-Performing routine sanitation, vacuuming, and general cleaning

-Packing microgreens in refrigerated work areas

-Seeding and transplanting crops

-Preparing and labeling clamshells for packing

-Maintaining clean, organized, and efficient work areas

-Following established production, sanitation, and food-safety procedures

-Assisting with other farm production tasks as needed

Additional Farm Hours:

Additional seasonal hours may be available throughout the season/year.

In addition to our indoor microgreen operation, the farm includes approximately one acre of blueberries and several acres of other fruit and field crops.

Employees interested in additional hours may have opportunities to assist with outdoor farm work such as:

-Planting

-Pruning

-Weeding

-General crop maintenance

-Other seasonal farm projects

Availability of additional hours will depend on seasonal production needs.

Compensation & Employment:

Starting pay: $17–$20/hour, based on relevant work experience and qualifications.

Employment includes:

-Paid training

-Paid 30-minute meal break each shift

-NJ earned sick leave

-W-2 employment

-Required personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided by Farm 505, including work boots

Opportunity for additional seasonal farm hours when available

There will be a scheduled winter production break during January 2027, followed by regular year-round production and employment thereafter.

Reliable transportation to and from the farm in Howell, NJ is required.

 

Qualifications

No previous agricultural experience is required. We provide paid, hands-on training.

The right candidates will be reliable, comfortable with physical work, able to follow detailed procedures, and willing to pitch in wherever needed to keep production running smoothly.

Physical Requirements:

-This is an active, physical job. Applicants should be comfortable with:

-Repeatedly lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

-Spending extended periods standing and working on their feet

-Performing repetitive physical tasks throughout a shift

-Working for extended periods in refrigerated temperatures

-Moving between cleaning, packing, planting, and other production activities
