Pinwheel Place Crisis Nursery is seeking compassionate, dependable Substitute Childcare Workers to support our mission of keeping children safe and supporting families during times of crisis. This is a flexible, on-call position ideal for individuals who love working with young children and want to make a meaningful difference in their community.

About Pinwheel Place:

Pinwheel Place is a crisis nursery serving children from six weeks through age six, providing safe, nurturing care during family emergencies. We are a warm, trauma-informed, and community-centered organization dedicated to protecting childhood and supporting parents through difficult moments.

Position Summary:

Substitute Childcare Workers provide safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate care to children when regular staff are unavailable or as needed for ratio purposes with the other caregiver.. Substitutes are called in as needed and play a vital role in maintaining continuity of care for children and families.

*This is an on-call, hourly, at-will position with no guaranteed number of hours.

 

Job Responsibilities

-Provide safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care to children ages newborn to six

-Supervise children at all times, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being

-Support daily routines including meals, rest, play, hygiene, diapering, and toileting

-Implement activities and schedules provided by lead staff

-Use positive, gentle behavior guidance strategies

-Maintain accurate attendance, daily logs, and incident reports as needed

-Follow all Pinwheel Place policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures

-Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and sensitive information

-Serve as a mandated reporter and follow all legal reporting requirements

-Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, and staff

Salary Range: 15.92 hr
