Community Service

Student Life & Activities supports volunteer service in our efforts to build community throughout Monmouth County and beyond.  Through our partnerships with other Brookdale departments and community organizations we help to plan events such as the ones listed below.  In addition, all recognized clubs and organizations are required to complete one service project to remain in good standing.


Upcoming Fall 2017 Brookdale Cares Days of Service

Friday, September 29th – 10am-1pm – Longstreet Farm at Holmdel Park: Join Student Life & Activities in assisting Holmdel Park staff with light repairs to and painting of the fence at Longstreet Farm.

Saturday, October 21st – 9am-12:30pm – Beach Sweeps at Asbury Park Convention Hall: Volunteer with Student Life & Activities and Clean Ocean Action for the annual Fall Beach Sweep.

November 1st-16th – Annual Food Drive: Throughout the month of November, Student Life & Activities will have food donation bins located across campus. All non-perishable, non-expired items will be donated to Fulfill (formerly the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties) on Friday, November 17th. Please note, registration is not required to donate to the Food Drive.

Thursday, November 2nd – 11:45am-1:15pm – Brookdale Campus Cleanup: Spend your College Hour helping to remove debris and make Brookdale’s Lincroft campus shine before the Fall 2017 Open House.

Saturday, December 9th – 10am-11:30am (approximate time) – Shore Strikers League at Shore Lanes: Spend a fun and enriching morning with Student Life & Activities and the Shore Strikers League. The Shore Strikers League is a bowling team of developmentally delayed individuals (various ages). Volunteer roles can range from collecting the bowling fee, assisting League members one-on-one, to simply encouraging and showing team support.

Volunteers celebrated Earth Day by helping to keep the Asbury Park Convention Hall beach clean.

Volunteers collected various debris from the Asbury Park Convention Hall beach site.

Cheesequake State Park – September 23, 2016

Volunteers built a brand new trail with the guidance of Cheesequake State Park Officials.

From 2012-2015, Student Life & Activities partnered with Habitat for Humanity’s Collegiate Challenge program to bring students on a week long service project.  Habitat provided housing, supervision and materials through their local affiliates, and students got to learn invaluable skills in construction and team-building while helping ensure that every family has a safe, affordable place to live
