Student Life & Activities also offers many educational lectures for students, employees and Brookdale friends to enjoy. These lectures may be sponsored with the help of another department or academic division. Click on each event title to find out more.


Upcoming Spring 2021 Student Life Events

Poster advertising the first Student Life Take & Make event of the Spring 21 semester: Warm-Up to Another Semester on 1/26. Students must register for this event by clicking on the poster. Poster advertising the upcoming Virtual Student-Talent Show. The rules and guidelines: This talent show is for musical skills and performing arts based talents for Brookdale students only. Videos should be a maximum of three minutes long. Must be school appropriate with absolutely no cursing! Groups can be no more than 4 people. Submissions must be emailed to brookdaletalent@brookdalecc.edu by February 5th, 2021. The Talent Committee will choose the top 10 to move forward for voting. Once the top 10 videos are chosen, the winners will be given a time to come to campus for a professional video taping of the talent. The entire student body will be able to vote for the top performer in each category, musical or performing arts based, to WIN BIG! Poster advertising the upcoming Valentine's Day Take & Make offered on 2/9 and 2/11. Interested students should lick the poster to register for this event! Giveaways include Valentine's string art, candy, and more!

Poster advertising the upcoming True Black History Virtual Museum experience on 2/16 at 11:45am via Zoom. Current Brookdale students should click the poster to register for this event. Poster advertising the upcoming Student Life Bingo in-person event on 2/17 at 7pm in the Collins Arena. This event is for current Brookdale students only. This is an in-person event and all guidelines will be sent upon sign-up. Masks will be required. Join us for fun, food, and prizes! Current Brookdale students should click the poster to register for this event. Join Richard Geffken as he tells the history of the Dutch and English settlers who brought the first enslaved people to New Jersey in the seventeenth century. By the time of the Revolutionary War, slavery was an established practice on labor-intensive farms throughout what became known as the Garden State. This is a virtual event taking place on Zoom on 2/18/21.

Poster advertising the upcoming Health at Home "Stretch Out the Stress" workshop being held on 2/4 via Zoom. Join Student Life's Greg Mahadeen & stretch it out! Experience the benefits of stretching for each joint and muscle group! Standing, seated, and floor stretches will be performed during this activity. Current Brookdale students should click the poster to register for this program.  Poster advertising the upcoming Blood Drive with the American Red Cross being held in the Collins Arena on 2/11, 10am-3pm. Those who wish to donate blood must schedule an appointment by either clicking the poster (to be taken to the registration site) or by emailing Student Life at etierney@brookdalecc.edu Poster advertising the Student Life & Activities and Career, Leadership & Transfer Pathways co-sponsored Vision Board Take & Make event. Pickup is scheduled to be held on February 16, 17, & 18 from 10am-4pm. Current Brookdale students should click the poster to register for this upcoming event.

Current Brookdale students should click on the poster to register for this event. Poster advertising the upcoming Health at Home Wellness Session - Self-Care for College Students During the Pandemic on 2/25 at 12pm. College can be overwhelming with its piling assignments, tests, and more. Prioritizing our own needs isn’t always an easy! During this self-care presentation learn sleep hygiene, time blindness, apps to help, breathing & meditation, mindfulness, therapy and conflict. Additional resources will be given at the presentation. This workshop's theme is "Turn Up Your Volume: Building Your Personal Brand". Current Brookdale students should click the poster to register!

 Poster advertising the Career, Leadership & Transfer Pathways Suit Up Event happening at JC Penney's March 4-7, 2021. Register by clicking the poster and sign-up to receive your 30% coupon code! All current Brookdale students that register will be entered to win a $25 gift card sponsored by Student Life! Poster advertising the upcoming Fulfill Mobile Food Pantry visit to the Lincroft campus on 3/9 from 11:30am-1pm in Parking Lot 3. This is a drive-up event only. Poster advertising the upcoming Building the Band: Network, Network, Network! leadership workshop with Jason LeVasseur on 3/9 at 11:45am on Zoom. Build your virtual presence!!! Grow your leadership network!!! Leave a legacy!!! This workshop focuses on your role and responsibility in staying connected and engaged. We will explore ways to collectively promote your leadership as you grow. Each individual has a role to play! Every individual is an important “rock star in the band” and this workshop helps inspire your leadership into action. It’s time to promote new members on your personal leadership team!!!  Current Brookdale students should click the poster to register for this workshop. Poster advertising the upcoming Keeping the Band in Tune: Accomplishing Your Goal leadership workshop with Jason LeVasseur on 3/23 at 11:45am on Zoom. You are an influential “Rock Star Student Leader” within your campus community, virtually and “in person”. Your influence is even greater when you work with other to accomplish your collective goal. This workshop will focus on strengthening your network, overcoming the pitfalls inherent to working and collaborating with a group, and exploring the best ways to keep yourself involved. Poster advertising the upcoming Taking the Lead: Ideas Into Action! leadership workshop with Jason LeVasseur on 3/30 at 11:45am on Zoom. Congratulations, you are a Rock Star Student Leader! Now what? What are the next steps? Where do we go from here? These are the questions we will answer in our final workshop as we explore ways to stay motivated and inspired. We will take the lessons learned in our time together and direct our focus on how to turn our ideas into action.
