Graduation Information For Employees

The Department of Student Life & Activities invites all employees of the College to participate in this year’s in-person, traditional commencement ceremonies on Thursday, May 9, 2024.

The 10am ceremony will honor AA graduates.
The 3pm ceremony will honor AS, AAS, AFA, and Certificate graduates.

Are you a member of the dais / platform party? All dais participants are asked to coordinate their academic regalia order and details of participation by emailing Cynthia Gruskos in the President’s Office at cgruskos@brookdalecc.edu.

Do you want to help out at graduation? All Brookdale employees are invited to volunteer at the ceremonies! Student Life & Activities needs help with student robing, assisting guests, and coordinating various activities for this important event. If you would like to volunteer, please fill-out the Graduation Volunteer Form found here.

Faculty and Administrators are invited to participate in the procession. As in year’s past, the college will cover the cost of renting your academic regalia. If you do not already own academic regalia and need to order it, please complete the Faculty/Administrator Academic Regalia Order & Participation Form found here. If you already do own your own academic regalia and would simply like to sign up to participate in the ceremony, please use the Faculty/Administrator Participation Form found here. The deadline to sign-up and to order is April 10.

For those faculty and administrators who submit an academic regalia order form: our vendor, Worldwide Gear, will produce the appropriate academic regalia (as close to your college/university as possible) and have it available for pick-up from the office of Student Life & Activities in the Warner Student Life Center, room April 22-26 and April 29 – May 3.

Procession participants are asked to arrive at the SLC Twin Lights Rooms at 9am for the morning session and at 2pm for the afternoon. Student Life & Activities will be providing coffee services in Twin Lights in the morning. Student Life & Activities will also provide lunch after the morning ceremony for all faculty, administrators, and staff participating in graduation in the Navesink Rooms of the Warner Student Life Center. After each ceremony, there will be a reception with light refreshments for graduates and their families. We encourage you to stop by, congratulate, and to take photos near the “success” sign with your graduates!

All Brookdale Employees: have a family member graduating this year?  Student Life & Activities would like to invite all employees who have a family member graduating in May to present a “diploma” to their loved one. Please contact the Student Life & Activities office by e-mailing graduation@brookdalecc.edu by April 17, 2024 with your name and the name of your graduate so that logistics can be arranged to prevent interruption of the flow of the car-procession ceremonies.

Faculty: have an exemplary student graduating? If one of your students is graduating and you feel they have a compelling story to share, please encourage them to enter the competition to present the student speech. Also, if you know an involved student leader who is graduating, please encourage them to run for the Graduate Trustee position. More details about these student activities may be found in Information for Graduating Students.
