Billy Van Zandt, Alone At Last!

BILLY VAN ZANDT RETURNS TO BROOKDALE IN A SPECIAL NEW MUSICAL SHOW EVENING TO BENEFIT THE BROOKDALE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

The Brookdale Performing Arts Center in Lincroft will present “Billy Van Zandt, Alone At Last!” a very special musical evening starring the actor-producer-playwright. All proceeds from the 7:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026, one-night-only performance will benefit the Brookdale Performing Arts Center.

For more than four decades, Mr. Van Zandt has returned home to Monmouth County to debut and perform in his original comedies and musicals along with a mainstay group of multi-talented actors, affectionately known as “The Unofficial Van Zandt/Milmore Repertory Company.” In this performance, Billy will be stepping into the spotlight solo, trying something new — a one man show—although many of the VZ/M actors may have other ideas about the solo show concept.

Intimate and hilarious, “Billy Van Zandt, Alone At Last!” shares the songs, stories, and memories that shaped his extraordinary career. The production promises to be an evening of unforgettable humor and heart, with some surprises and unexpected twists along the way. Musical direction and choreography for the performance is by Beth Moore, and Michele Mossay, respectively.

Known for his co-authored plays with Jane Milmore, that continue to be produced in thousands of theaters globally, Mr. Van Zandt additionally is recognized for his movie roles in “Jaws 2” and “Taps;” his best-selling books “Get In the Car, Jane (Adventures from the Television Wasteland)” and “Because it’s Funny!”; and his television work writing for the biggest names in entertainment where he’s received an Emmy nomination as well as People Choice Prism, and NAACP Image Awards.

As an actor, he’s worked with Lucille Ball,Sean Penn, Tom Cruise, Don Rickles, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Newhart, Richard Lewis, Martin Lawrence, the Wayans Bros., Olympia Dukakis, Karl Malden, JoAnne Worley, DL Hughley, Mrs. Maisel, That Girl Lay Lay, a shark named Bruce, and the original Star Trek crew of the USS Enterprise.

His work with the Brookdale Community College Performing Arts Center began in 1997, and during the last 30 years he and his partner, the late Jane Milmore established a very successful scholarship program putting 30 Monmouth County students through college.

When not touring in one of his plays, Billy lives in Los Angeles with his actress wife, Teresa Ganzel, or visiting the Middletown (NJ) street he grew up on, now officially renamed “Van Zandt Way.”
