Brookdale Automotive Gets a High-Performance Look

Brookdale Community College’s Automotive Technology program has a powerful new way to showcase what students can experience in the classroom and under the hood.

The program’s Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has been transformed with a custom Brookdale wrap, prominently featuring the College and Automotive Technology logos alongside the General Motors name. Now sporting Brookdale blue, the high-performance vehicle provides a striking centerpiece for a program built around hands-on learning, advanced technology and preparation for careers in the automotive industry.

More than an eye-catching addition to Brookdale’s automotive facility, the Corvette represents the sophisticated technology today’s automotive technicians encounter as vehicles become increasingly complex.

Students in Brookdale’s Automotive Technology program train in a modern 12-bay laboratory and classrooms equipped with vehicle lifts and industry-standard technology. Working alongside manufacturer-certified instructors and lab assistants, students gain practical experience designed to prepare them for the rapidly changing automotive field.

Brookdale offers three Associate of Applied Science degree options in Automotive Technology, including its General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (GM ASEP) and General Automotive Technology (GENTEC) programs. Both are certified programs that meet automotive industry standards for technician education.

The GM ASEP program combines college-level instruction with real-world experience and specialized training on General Motors vehicles and systems. Brookdale’s relationship with GM gives students the opportunity to develop skills using the technology, diagnostic equipment and procedures they may encounter in professional service environments.

With its Brookdale branding now prominently displayed, the vehicle can also serve as a visible ambassador for the program, drawing attention to automotive education at campus events, recruitment activities and other College programs.

Brookdale’s Automotive Technology curriculum emphasizes the combination of classroom knowledge and extensive hands-on training needed to diagnose, service and repair today’s vehicles. Students are also encouraged to pursue Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exams as they progress through the program, adding industry-recognized credentials to their education.

The program also provides opportunities for students who want to continue their education beyond Brookdale. Through an articulation agreement with Pennsylvania College of Technology, part of the Penn State system, Brookdale Automotive Technology graduates can transfer as juniors and complete two additional years toward a bachelor’s degree in automotive management.

That combination of technical education, industry connections, transfer opportunities and hands-on experience gives students several paths forward, whether they plan to enter the workforce after graduation or continue toward a four-year degree.
