At last night’s Annual Awards Gala during the 52nd Annual Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Leadership Congress, which is taking place in San Diego, California, Cynthia Gruskos, senior assistant to the president and Board of Trustees of Brookdale Community College, received the prestigious 2021 Northeast Region Professional Board Staff Member Award.

The ACCT Board Chairman David Mathis and Founding President Emeritus Ex-Officio, National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education, Dr. William B. Harvey, presented the four regional awards given in recognition of exemplary service to boards.

For the first time in two years, more than 1,000 community college leaders convened in person at the ACCT Leadership Congress, emphasizing advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Speakers, sessions, and workshops will encourage institutions to move beyond the pandemic by intentionally focusing on the success of all students, including those who have been historically underrepresented—or outright excluded—from higher education.
