Jersey Blues Earn Region 19 Champions Of Character Award

Brookdale Community College has been named the recipient of the 2025-2026 Region 19 Champions of Character Award, marking the 10th time the Jersey Blues have earned the honor since the award was first presented in 2009.

The award recognizes Brookdale Athletics’ outstanding commitment to leadership, integrity, sportsmanship, responsibility, and service both on and off the field.

Throughout the year, Brookdale student-athletes demonstrated resilience, accountability, and teamwork while representing the College with pride. Coaches provided mentorship that helped student-athletes grow not only as competitors, but also as students, leaders, and members of the community.

Leadership opportunities were further strengthened through Brookdale’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), where representatives from multiple teams worked together to enhance the student-athlete experience, promote campus involvement, and organize meaningful community outreach initiatives.

• The Jersey Blues made a significant impact across Monmouth County and beyond during the 2025-2026 academic year through numerous service projects and community partnerships, including:
• Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball partnered with Student Life & Activities to host ALS awareness initiatives during home contests.
• Women’s Volleyball organized a “Spike Out Cancer” event with Middletown High School North and South in support of an important cause.
• Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball volunteered at Brookdale’s annual Haunted Theater.
• Women’s Soccer welcomed the Wall Girls Travel Team for a memorable pregame experience.
• Men’s and Women’s Cross Country participated in the Lunch Break Santa Run 5K in Asbury Park to support local families in need.
• Student-athletes from multiple programs volunteered at Brookdale’s Fall and Spring Open House events, welcoming prospective students and families.
• The Cheer Team hosted the Eatontown Memorial Middle School Dance Team for a halftime performance, creating a meaningful mentorship opportunity.

SAAC led several campus and community initiatives, including:

• Donating food to Brookdale’s Nutrition Hub.
• Hosting a Toys for Tots ping pong tournament.
• Organizing a children’s book drive benefiting the Honors Association and Circle K.
• Partnering with the baseball team to collect and donate youth sports equipment to the Boys & Girls Club of Red Bank.
• Participating in Brookdale’s Earth Day campus cleanup.
