Members of Brookdale’s 2017-2018 undefeated men’s basketball national championship team received their rings at a ceremony in Collins Arena on Friday.

Katie Amundson, Brookdale‘s athletics director, welcomed the players, coaches, families and guests. She said the 34-0 team was the first undefeated national championship team in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III since 2007.

Head Coach Paul Cisek, who earned his 500th career win during the campaign, praised his squad’s determination and character. He said his players truly worked as one unit in all aspects of the game.

“Your team accomplishments were truly historic,” said Dr. David Stout, president of Brookdale. “Brookdale is proud of your success on and off the court.”

Freeholder Director Thomas Arnone, Freeholder Gerry Scharfenberger and Sheriff Shaun Golden attended the ceremony. Freeholder Arnone said the team brought much recognition and pride to Monmouth Count and its residents.
