Lincroft, NJ (June 3, 2014)—Jim McConnell of Wall, a 2014 graduate of the Brookdale Community College Honors Program, was sworn in as the 2014-2015 graduate trustee last at the May board meeting. He replaces 2013-2014 trustee Zach Eisenberg.

The graduate trustee is the student voice on the college’s board of trustees.  The seat is filled annually through student elections.  A business and social science major, McConnell said he has been interested in serving as graduate trustee since his early days at Brookdale.

Involved in the college as a student, he was president of the Student Life Board and the Honors Association. He was vice president of Alpha Pi Theta, Brookdale’s chapter of the International Honor Society of Two Year Schools. He was also involved in charitable drives for food, clothing, toys and disaster relief and was a volunteer organizer for Lunch Break, Habitat for Humanity, the K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital and the American Cancer Society.

In a statement posted during the election, McConnell said he is interested in initiatives to expand and standardize articulation agreements between community colleges and four-year schools.
