Brookdale Community College Names Katelyn Amundson Director of Athletics

Brookdale Community College named Katelyn Amundson Director of Athletics. Affiliated with Brookdale Athletics for more than a decade, Amundson will continue to serve as head coach of the women’s soccer team.

“Our student-athletes are dedicated to achieving their best in their studies and respective sports,” said Amundson, a resident of Holmdel, NJ. “They inspire me every day, and I look forward to continue working with our student-athletes and our athletics staff across all sports to assist them in achieving their goals.”

A 2007 Brookdale graduate, Amundson led the Jersey Blues to three consecutive national championships from 2013-2015, the first three-peat in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women’s Division III. Her numerous coaching honors include NJCAA Coach of the Tournament 2013-2015, National Soccer Coaches Association of America Coach of the Year in 2015 and NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year-Division III South 2013-2015. Amundson most recently served as assistant director of athletics for six years and also was the assistant women’s soccer coach, advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and athletic coordinator.

“Katie’s enthusiasm and commitment to our student-athletes and the entire Brookdale community knows no boundaries,” said Brookdale President David M. Stout. “We have no doubt that she will continue to excel in this new role, enabling our student-athletes to achieve their aspirations in and outside the classroom.”

An accomplished student-athlete, Amundson was a two-sport student-athlete, competing in soccer and basketball. Named to the first All-Region and All-Garden State Athletic Conference teams as a defender, she holds the record for the most headers scored in a season. She was captain of the 2006 Region XIX championship women’s soccer team and a starter on the 2006-07 Region XIX championship women’s basketball team.  Amundson was named an Academic All-American and won the 2006 NAGWS award.

After earning her associate of arts degree, Amundson attended Ramapo College. She completed her Bachelor’s in History in 2009 and was captain of the women’s soccer team as a senior. She also earned a Master’s in Liberal Studies from Rutgers University in 2016.
